Day 1 – You are about to embark on a stunning adventure to the cradle of Western Civilization, Greece! Be wined and dined with spectacular backgrounds in a country full of a vibrant, diverse culture. Fly from the States to Athens where your journey begins!

Day 2 – Your overnight flight takes you to Athens, a diverse city dotted with 5th-century BC landmarks, and is home to some of the best food in the world! A private motorcoach will take you to the hotel. Meet the group for cocktails on your rooftop terrace bar. Dinner tonight is in a modern-day Agora with a constellation of green grocers, a butcher, fishmongers and bakery, a delicatessen and roastery, along with a bar and restaurant which celebrate the best of Greek cuisine culture. Food selection and menu by a Greek! After dinner you can go to a very special distillery/bar established in 1909 for a liquor tasting and try their very own ouzo. (D)

Day 3 – Today, get your bearings in Athens as you spend time sightseeing. Your private tour will include the Acropolis, the Parthenon and so much more! No matter how many photographs you have seen, nothing can prepare you for seeing in person, the Acropolis standing after thousands of years. Together with your specialized guide you will explore the site and afterwards you will head towards the long-waited Acropolis Museum. (B)

Day 4 – Athens is a lively city with a mix of ancient culture and modern society! Today you’ll have an entire day to explore. Will you explore ancient sights such as Hadrian’s Library and the Temple of Olympian Zeus? Or, will you venture to modern Plaka, the best shopping in Athens, Monastiraki Square or a fantastic rooftop patio, looking over the Acropolis! You also have the option to take a fantastic Greek food markets tour where you’ll be introduced to Athenian food heritage, meet the vendors and get all around advice for shopping in a market! Oh, and don’t forget the tastings along the way! Dinner tonight is another unforgettable experience as you fine dine amazing greek cuisine at the Acropolis Museum facing the illuminated Parthenon. It’s a moment in Greece you’ll remember forever! (B, D)

Day 5 – This morning you’ll catch a quick flight to the island of Crete! The largest and most populous of the Greek Islands has a landscape of dramatic mountains and has been inhabited by humans for over 130,000 years. You’ll fly into Chania, the second largest city of Crete, famous for its Old Town and is beloved for it’s typically Greek cuisine and sunny weather.Allow a local guide to walk you through the rich history of Chania, from the Byzantine and Arab era, the Venetian era, all the way through to the Ottoman and modern times… Your private Chania tour will uncover layers upon layers of history, in one of Crete’s most charming settings. Tonight, dinner is at a local winery outside the city! Sit among the beautiful olive trees and orange groves and have a wonderful meal with wine pairings. After dinner, head back to your spectacular hotel for a cocktail and a good night’s rest! (B, D)

Day 6 – Chania is a magnificent destination full of amazing beaches, stunning ancient history, amazing cuisine, and modern hot spots! Today is yours to explore on your own!We also have a few exclusive excursions you might want to take advantage of! Visit Balos beach (the picture below). The lagoon of Balos has white sand and exotic white, vivid blue and turquoise waters. Or, hike National Park Samaria gorge, one of the most famous attractions in Crete! You could also take a small private boat to go directly to Marmara beach where there is a small local restaurant with Cretan cuisine swimming and lunch! Soak up the sun and the sand in beautiful Crete. (B)

Day 7 – Today, take a short drive to Heraklion! Partake in a unique experience that begins by introducing you to the history of society and gastronomy of an ancient period and continues with food and beverage-tastings. Going from theory to practice, you will prepare a series of recipes with ingredients closest to the ones mentioned by the ancient authors and closest to the ancient botanical research. You will see your concoctions cooked in ancient pot replicas, such as a furnace, a wood-fired oven, open fires, hot stones and ashes! Finish the evening at your stunning hotel, amongst amazing restaurants and nightlife! (B, L)

Day 8 – Heraklion is a port city and the capital of the Greek island of Crete. It’s known for the Palace of Knossos, just outside the city and ancient ruins that date back thousands of years to the Minoan civilization. You are in for a stunning winery visit today, The Lyrarakis Estate is a family winery which has been producing high quality wines since 1966. The family is credited with the revival of two ancient Cretan varieties,
Dafni and Plyto while a third “vineyard treasure”, the indigenous Melissaki, was recently added to the credits. Surrounded by the idyllic setting of the vineyards and the Lassithi mountains you will discover local varieties and wines distinguished by the uniqueness of their origin and heritage. Tonight, you can enjoy an evening on your own or visit the Knossos palace. The palace of the Minoans, is the oldest recorded civilization in Europe. It is also connected with thrilling legends,
such as the myth of the Labyrinth, with the Minotaur, and the story of Daidalos and Ikaros. (B, L)

Day 9 – This morning, you are off to the enchanting island of Santorini! Famous for its whitewashed buildings, stunning blue water, and breathtaking sunsets, it’s sure to be unforgettable. Travel by ferry to the island where you’ll check into your hotel. You’ll have the option to visit the Akrotiri archaeological site, previously covered in ash, is the most significant archeological site in Greece. This evening will be an unforgettable moment… You’ll have a private wine expert who will take you to two wineries that produce the special local wines of Santorini and you’ll be doing it at sunset! Day 10 – Today is truly spectacular! Explore Santorini at your leisure! Spend the day wandering the gorgeous beaches or winding your way through the stunning whitewashed shops, restaurants and houses! Tonight, you’ll enjoy a sunset Caldera yachting experience! You’ll be cruising in an actual volcanic caldera taking in the stunning white and red beaches set against black mountains. End the cruise on the beach for a fun Greek dinner and drinks as the sun sets in the beautiful green Aegean sea! Unforgettable! (B, D)

Day 11 – Today, you’ll be welcomed into a local Cave house with appetizers and local wine, then the chef will guide you to the kitchen! The chef will guide you through the preparation of traditional Greek classics and once you’ve completed cooking them, you’ll finish your time enjoying your creations on their beautiful terrace! This evening, fly back to Athens. (B, L)

Day 12 – The sanctuary of Delphi, blending superb landscape and charged with sacred meaning, was the religious center of the ancient Greek world dating back to the 6th century. After your guided tour of the site, it’s time for a private cooking class presented by a local woman from Delphi, where you’ll make phyllo pastry & traditional Hortopita! Lunch is set in the gorgeous mountain cosmopolitan town of Arachova! Enjoy local favorites including feta, olives, olive oil etc. along with specialties and wines from the region. After a breathtaking lunch, enjoy free time in Arachova before heading back to Athens for the night! (B, L)

Day 13 – Today, we depart mid-day from Athens to the USA. The time will be spent enjoying all of the amazing one of a kind memories you created while on this Excite Experience! (B)

Refunds: Deposits are non-refundable 60 days prior to departure.  Full refunds may be available with trip insurance.  Once final payment is made, refunds without insurance coverage will be on a case by case basis, based on what Excite can receive refunds for. If tour is canceled because of COVID19 restrictions from the US government, a full refund will be issued.
